An endearing and entertaining story about the simplicity of human life, infused with the trademark touch of Satoshi's quirky sense of humour. Two apparently random characters are caught in a personal bubble full of nostalgic memories and unexpected happiness, and their journey brings about touching moments of self-discovery.

Based on the original novel by Fujita Yoshinaga, the film introduces a debt collector, Fukuhara, and an eighth-year law student, Fumiya, who is up to his neck in debt. Instead of following up on his previous threats, the loan shark makes Fumiya a different proposition - to walk with him around Tokyo in return for more than enough money to cover his debt - the student reluctantly agrees. Through their walk towards the police station of Kasumigaseki, where Fukuhara would turn himself in for a crime he has regretfully committed, their outlook on life begins to change and reflect the changing scenery of an autumnal Tokyo.
